Housing and Homelessness
The California housing market is very competitive. The average sale price of a home in California was $400K in December of 2022, up 30.1% since last year. The average sale price per square foot in California is $166, up 0.9% since last year. As costs of housing in California have increased, so has homelessness. Homelessness in California is a continuing and growing crisis. Individuals and families experiencing homelessness are without permanent housing largely due to a lack of affordable housing.
