THE BIRTHPLACE OF
California is the birthplace of blue jeans, Hollywood, the Green Movement and the modern tech world. California innovates and inspires – that is no different when it comes to our economic development approach.
The Community & Place-Based Solutions Team’s three pillars of economic development.
Regions Up Approach
Nobody understands the opportunities and challenges in each of California’s distinct regional economies better than the people based in that region. A bottom-up approach allows regions to establish unique economic development plans that are best suited for their own communities.
Inclusive Collaboration
Collaborative, multi-purpose strategic plans maximize community benefit and leverage collective capacity. Varied perspectives and experiences at the planning table results in a more broadly supported regional vision.
Aligning Resources
Aligning local, state, and federal funding is essential for building capital stacks for sustainable, innovative projects. A regional vision that complements other regional economic development plans enhances the attraction and impact of public, philanthropic and private investments.
Community Development Areas
In California, our regions are breaking down silos and working across disciplines to build equitable and resilient economies. Browse funding resources, community partner contacts, and data tools to enhance alignment for any of the following community development areas.
